Villagers raise ₹20 lakh to save ‘people’s doctor’


Thirumalai: The incident in which villagers raised funds to save a doctor affected by corona in Andhra Pradesh has caused resilience.  Dr. Bhaskar Rao of Primary Health Center, Karanchedu Village, Prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh.  For the last 2 years he has been raising various awareness among the public to prevent the spread of corona.  He also offered his condolences to those affected by the corona and helped them recover from the infection.  When the villagers were scared to get vaccinated, Bhaskar Rao made them aware and made everyone get vaccinated.  He was treated in corona wards day and night. In this condition, he is currently suffering from corona.
His lungs are severely damaged and he is being treated in critical condition in the ICU ward of a private hospital in Vijayawada.

 Immediately, doctors advised him to undergo lung surgery. It is said to cost between Rs 1.50 crore and Rs 2 crore. So, his family is stunned. On hearing this, the villagers decided to help Dr. Bhaskar Rao, who had saved them, and raised funds. Of this, Rs 20 lakh was collected. After hearing about this, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan yesterday announced that the government will accept Rs 1.50 crore as medical expenses for Bhaskar Rao. Thus, the doctor's family and the villagers are happy.
